French disappoint, Korea & Brazil make it hard.

1. Korea Republic Vs. Togo (13,June)

Score : Korea 2 : 1 Togo
Verdict : A bit harsh on a spirited Togo
Key Moments :
a. Mohamed Kader shocked everyone by drilling a shot past the korean goalkeeper after superbly controlling a long ball with his thigh.
b. Togo skipper Dosseh was sent off after he brought down Ji-SungPark in 53rd minute. The resulting free-kick was converted into a goal by Chun-Soo. Scores Level.
c. Ahn Jung-hwan curled in the winner for Korea in the 72nd minute, after a long spell of pressure on a 10 man togo team.

# Togo shocked everyone including themselves, with a spirited performance, considering the fact that it wasnt confirmed until minutes before the kick-off who their coach will be.
Koreans made things difficult for themselves, they definitely will have to be much more alert if they are to go far in this competition.

2. France Vs. Switzerland (13,June)

Score : France 0 : 0 Switzerland
Verdict : Fair result
Key Moments :
a. Switzerland had the best chance of scoring in this dull affair, in the 65th minute when a sun-blind barthez somehow managed to keep Gygax's close range header out with his foot !

Photo : It was the story of the match for French. Disappointing passes, Frustrating finishing and helpless. French Captain Zidane and Wiltord seen here arguing after another lost chance.

Photo : Bizzarely French goalkeeper Barthez was blind for most of the 2nd half , with the sun right into his eyes but still managed to make a few decent saves and keep swiss at the bay.

# The french now havent scored a goal in the WC finals since their 3-0 cup truimph Eight years agao against Brazil. They struggled yesterday just like they did 4 years ago in korea & Japan , failing to create any clear cut chances or converting any half-chances.

3. Brazil vs. Croatia (13,June)

Score : Brazil 1 : 0 Croatia
Verdict :Fair reslut (though Croats fought hard, cud have been a draw.)
Key Players :
Kaka : scored the only goal of the match and forced two other great saves.
Disappointing :
Ronaldo : looked lost for most of the match. Was subsituted in the 69th minute by Robinho.

Photo : Kaka after putting his team in the lead. He and Ronaldinho were the only two who lived up to the pre-match hype.

# Brazil though didn't live up to the pre-cup expectations and hype still mananged to post for the fist the time in WC history an Eigth consecutive world cup win. Though they would have to play a lot better than this if they are to reach their 4th straight WC final. There defense particularly looked really shaky.
